The introductory page of my book that is as follows:
I tried to penetrate different historical periods of Milan, through the stories of some characters that you have lived and saw it was at the time of their lives. In addition the buildings with their architectural evolutions, are good witnesses.
Among the many players in the history of Milan, I have chosen some that seemed more significant, also because through their lives you can guess the reality around them.
addition to people, even buildings (churches, buildings, neighborhoods, roads), have a fundamental significance in our lives, because they belong with their daily presence. Depending on the periods, are subject to different architectural trends, or disappear to make room for new ones.
The stories then, sad or funny, important or trivial, define the steps for various periods and make us participate as spectators in what has happened.
A great city, like everything around us, is always changing because you change the customs, fashions, buildings and social relations among its people.
And it is trying to relive past situations that we groped diving into the everyday realities of those who came before us.
